My 5 Best Spring Skin Care Tips!

It's almost time for summer!

The seasons are finally changing, which means our skin is too! Just like we change or clothes from season to season, our skin care should change too. Here are my 5 best tips for spring skincare!

Lighten up!

In the springtime there is more moisture in the air, so our skin tends to be less dry than in the winter (or for you oily skin folks like me, EXTRA oily!) For the spring and summer I often switch to a hyaluronic acid based gel moisturizer. Hyaluronic acid binds 1,000 times it's weight in moisture to the skin without being heavy. Oily skin can still be dehydrated, and then producing MORE oil to try and balance itself. A gel moisturizer is the perfect lightweight fit! A Natural Difference makes two great hyaluronic acid gel moisturizers. Hydro-Lane and Hydrotant Gel.

Hydro-Lane - This gel moisturizer is 20% hyaluronic acid and 20% oligopeptides, which help to relax muscles and soften and smooth fines lines. A great hydration plumping and anti-aging product!

Hydrotant Gel - This original formula is a unique oil free gel that contains shark cartilage and hyaluronic acid which has the ability to hold water for a much longer period of time than any other humectant.

Scrub that dead skin away!

In the summer we've got more skin showing, so let it be glowing! Be sure to exfoliate daily, or every other day as I have directed you to keep skin glowing, products penetrating the skin well (therefore being more beneficial), keep pores clear, prevent breakouts, increase cell turnover and more. Whew, that's a list of benefits! Christie Brinkley recently said this in an interview to Elle magazine "In the beginning of my career I read an article about the reason that men always look five years younger than women is because they shave. It said that the daily exfoliation from shaving gives them that rapid cell turnover and keeps their skin glowing and looking so great."

Prevent

Sun damage is waiting to find your skin whenever it can, and most likely no matter how careful you are, it'll find you. Windows, car rides etc. Take preventative measures by using vitamin C! Vitamin C helps to prevent and lighten discolorations, give and even skin tone and beautiful glow. It is an antioxidant that increases collagen production and neutralizes UV damage. Try using AND's Cellular Repair Concentrate under your moisturizer!

SPF

In my last e-mail I talked about my love for Coola Suncare. SPF is so important to prevent UV damage to the skin, and future discolorations. I'm all about a little vitamin D, but I allow my arms and legs absorb my vitamin D for my 15 minutes, versus my face. For coverage beyond SPF, I also love my sunhat which is something like this one from Target. Little tip: black blocks out more UV rays!

Get some color!

No one wants to be the ghost at the beach, right? A self tanner is a great option! I love Tantasia by Jane Iredale. Their tinted formulation provides instant bronzing (just incase you remembered last minute that you need some color on your legs for an event!)it tans from the inside out like a natural tan (so it won't fade all blochy!), it smells like oranges, and absorbs super fast! It's also non-comedogenic (not pore clogging) so it's safe for face and body, and acne prone skin.

I know this was a little bit long, so thanks so much for reading! I hope you have learned something and feel more confident in how to take care of your skin.

To happy, healthy skin!

Kayla
